There are kayaking expeditions in the nearby mangroves. You can visit local fishing villages and set off on guided hikes through the rainforest with a resident naturalist.

The one-hour, topsy-turvy trek to the Honeymoon Beach is certainly worth it. Here you’ll discover a crescent of perfect sand fringed by lofty emerald palms.

There’s a jungle gym containing a few free weights and TRX. If you prefer to relax the resident yoga therapist will be happy to put you through your paces.

The diving and snorkelling is also world-class. There are coral gardens beneath the waves. 

The resort has recently announced exciting new developments for the upcoming season. These include an exclusive and intimate private house on Honeymoon Beach. There is also a new conservation centre and large organic farm. 

Exclusive New Beach House Wa Ale has opened up ‘Honeymoon Beach’. This gives guests another 1km stretch of paradise to explore alongside Turtle Beach.

The new four-bedroom green home is available for guests to rent privately. It is a totally exclusive experience. The first two bedrooms are now open, with the third and fourth bedrooms to be completed at the start of 2020 – 2021 season.

As with all of Wa Ale, the design concept of the beach house was to create an ecofriendly retreat. The retreat blends seamlessly into the lush tropical surroundings. It is constructed using locally reclaimed materials without harming the natural surroundings.

Guests can feel totally indulged. The house comes with its own private chef, butler and maid.

The house also includes kayaks, paddleboards and a speedboat. These are all available for exclusive use. Guests of the Beach House are secluded from other guests at the main resort. They are just a short boat ride away from the coastline and have the restaurants and facilities of Wa Ale at their disposal.

Island Conservation and Sustainable Farming Sustainable practices are the core of Wa Ale’s mission.  The team has expanded the resort’s organic food and beverage offerings. These are offered at the Main Pavilion restaurant and River Café & Bar. They are also offered at the Honeymoon Beach House. There is now a large organic farm comprising five greenhouses. These will support most of the resort’s produce needs.

 Guests are welcome to visit the new agriculture area. They can stroll through the gardens and interact with the chefs and gardeners. They can learn all about Wa Ale’s island farm. 

The team have also developed a sustainable aquaculture programme. This builds on Wa Ale’s success in diminishing illegal fishing in the area. It makes the island even more self-sufficient. The fish are netted in the open sea and are grown in their natural habitat. They are then used to feed guests and staff throughout the season.

There are many animals indigenous to the marine national park. These include three different monkey species. There are also mouse deer, giant flying squirrels and abundant birdlife. There is a new conservation centre and observation deck. From here guests may spot these beautiful creatures in their natural environment. 

The resort has announced the addition of two new world-class dive sites. Dive excursions are now enjoyed at Black Rock and Burma Banks. This is perfect for keen divers who want to explore the spectacular reefs near Wa Ale.

At Black Rock, divers will have the chance to see an array of marine life. These include oceanic manta rays and whale sharks. There is also beautiful coral life. The exciting dive location of Burma Banks is home to whitetips, silvertips and black-tip sharks. There is also other amazing sea life.

It is one of the only luxury eco resorts in the region where guests can explore the dive sites and return to the island on the same day.
